PUTRAJAYA: The implementation of the hybrid working day (HBH) policy will require one to three months before its impact can be assessed comprehensively, says Public Service Department director-general Tan Sri Dr Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz.
He said about 15,000 civil servants are working under the policy.
“Given the short period of implementation, we cannot assess it comprehensively. Perhaps after one to three months, we will be able to see the impact,” he said after the 21st Public Service Prime Ministerial Council (MAPPA XXI) 2026 Run here yesterday.
Wan Ahmad Dahlan said HBH represents a new norm of employment in the country, Bernama reported.
He said developed countries, including Singapore and Scandinavian nations, had implemented hybrid working arrangements for a long time, with findings showing positive outcomes.
The HBH, which allows civil servants to spend three days in the office and two days working from home or alternative locations, began on Aug 1.
The department described the policy as a future-proof measure to ensure that government service delivery remains intact in the face of global changes and the evolution of modern working methods without compromising the quality of services to the people.
In another development, Wan Ahmad Dahlan said the department had not received complaints from civil servants who were allegedly receiving pressure from politicians.
“Until today, we have not received any complaint from civil servants who are said to have received pressure from politicians.
“I believe civil servants understand the rules that bind them,” he said while responding to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi who expressed concern over the pressure being placed on civil servants due to the current political conflict.
The MAPPA XXI saw more than 13,000 participants and visitors flooding Dataran Putrajaya, showing an extraordinary response to the government’s efforts to cultivate a healthy lifestyle, strengthen unity and empower the spirit of civil service reform.
The event was also attended by Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar.
