KLUANG: A male college student in Kluang has been remanded for an additional day until Aug 6 over the death of a baby girl, who was found with multiple stab injuries at a rented house in Taman Setia Mutiara on July 29.
Magistrate Nurasidah A Rahman at the Kluang Magistrate’s Court granted the remand extension for the 19-year-old student to allow police to finalise their investigation into the case.
The student had earlier been remanded for seven days from July 30 to Aug 5, as police investigate the case under Sections 302 and 315 of the Penal Code.
On July 30, Johor police chief CP Datuk Ab Rahaman Arsad said police received a report at 1pm about the incident involving a student who was taken to Enche Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital after delivering a baby.
He said investigations found the baby was discovered by a college instructor, while medical checks revealed the student was carrying the baby’s twin, who was later safely delivered.
Police subsequently detained a student believed to be the teenager’s boyfriend to help with the investigation. - Bernama
