JEMPOL: Barisan Nasional is open to discussions on continuing its understanding with Perikatan Nasional in the upcoming Melaka state election, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Describing politics as dynamic, the Barisan chairman said they remained receptive to any future discussions on electoral cooperation following the arrangement between the two coalitions in the Negri Sembilan polls.
"We are open to discussions because politics is very dynamic. It is this dynamism that has matured politics in Malaysia," he told reporters after a meet-and-greet session at Kampung Taman Jaya in Bahau on Friday (July 31).
He was responding to a question on whether the Barisan-Perikatan understanding in the Negri Sembilan polls would be extended to Melaka.
Zahid, who is also Umno president, said the "blue wave" seen in Johor emerged organically instead of using a specific formula.
"The came about organically and that is what we hope to see in Melaka," he said.
