THE Rajaji Tamil school in Penang welcomed a delegation of 28 senior educators from Mauritius, Malaysia Nanban reported.
The teachers were given a tour of the school in Air Itam and were briefed on Malaysia’s Tamil education system including its achievements and challenges.
Principal Lueis Mary Balavendram also highlighted the school’s history and success stories in her welcome address.
The Mauritius delegation’s coordinator Pulavan said the African island nation has preserved its cultural identity for generations.
“The Tamil language has been kept alive through the fourth and fifth generations, helping the community remain connected to the global Tamil diaspora.”
Penang state exco member Datuk Seri Sundarajoo Somu said he was glad to see the visiting educators dressed in traditional sarees.
He also outlined the state government’s efforts, together with Indian community leaders, to support the continued development of Tamil schools.
