BUKIT MERTAJAM: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim called on school administrators and teachers to address bullying seriously.
He said that education reform must prioritise student welfare and character development over institutional reputation.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of SMKA Sheikh Tahir Jalaluddin on Saturday (July 25), Anwar expressed concern over ongoing bullying incidents.
"Some educators might be reluctant to publicise such cases to protect their school's reputation, but this should never come at the expense of students' welfare," he said.
Anwar said teachers and school administrators should never regard bullying as a minor issue.
Anwar defined true education reform as a balance between academic achievement, facility improvements, and the cultivation of integrity, discipline, and compassion.
"The true measure of education lies in producing individuals with integrity and compassion," he said.
