Teen faces legal trouble after faking kidnapping to avoid being scolded

KAJANG: A 16-year-old student faces legal trouble after fabricating a kidnapping attempt to avoid being scolded for missing her ride home.

The teenager initially filed a police report on Tuesday (July 14) claiming she was nearly abducted along Jalan Taman Pelangi in Semenyih. However, CCTV footage contradicted her story.

According to Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Naazron Abdul Yusof on Wednesday (July 15), investigations revealed the girl lied out of fear of her family's reaction to her missing her school transport.

The case is now being investigated under Section 182 of the Penal Code for providing false information to a public servant.

"Members of the public are advised to always provide information that is truthful, accurate, and complete when making police reports. Any false reports or reports containing misleading facts may result in legal action being taken under the applicable laws,” said ACP Naazron.
