Immigration Department clears 266 foreigners in Forest City screening, probe continues

KUALA LUMPUR: An immigration sweep targeting a foreign community in Forest City, Johor, found that all 266 individuals screened possessed valid travel documents, though authorities are continuing investigations to ensure full compliance with Malaysian laws.

Immigration Director-General Datuk Zakaria Shaaban stated that the Tuesday (July 14) joint operation involved nationals from 40 countries and included personnel from the police, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), and local councils.

"While initial checks showed all individuals held valid documents, further investigations are underway to verify entry requirements and ensure no breaches of the Immigration Act 1959/63," Zakaria said in a statement on Wednesday (July 15).

He stressed that the department will investigate any suspicions regarding identity fraud, document misuse, or visa violations. Zakaria warned that strict enforcement action will be taken against any individuals found breaking the law, as part of ongoing inter-agency efforts to safeguard national security.
