Foul stench from locked room leads to discovery of dead man in KK

KOTA KINABALU: A stench coming from a locked rented room in Sadong Jaya led to the discovery of a dead man on Sunday (July 12).

Kota Kinabalu Fire Station chief Ordine Gilu said when they received a call to break down a locked door at around 9.25pm, they were also told that someone was staying there but did not respond when called.

“The complainant also told us that there was a foul smell emitting from the room,” he said in a statement.

He said after breaking down the door, they found the body of the 31-year-old tenant. Medical officials later confirmed his death.

Ordine said the body was later handed over to the police for further investigation and action, while operations at the scene concluded at 9.50pm.
