KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 250 female trainees from across the country reported for the National Service Training Programme (PLKN) 3.0 (Series 3/2026) at the 515 Territorial Army Camp.
National Service Training Department director (Planning and Policy Division) Kolonel Abd Rani Abdul Majid said 17 trainees had been granted special permission to report today instead, allowing them to fulfil their voting responsibilities in the Johor election.
“Today’s (yesterday) registration mainly involves participants from the central zone, including Melaka and Negri Sembilan, while also welcoming trainees from Sabah and Sarawak,” he told reporters after inspecting the registration process at the camp, Bernama reported.
Abd Rani said PLKN 3.0 adopts a comprehensive training approach comprising 70% military training and 30% nation-building modules aimed at developing character, discipline and identity in the young generation.
Wan Aminuddin Wan Ismail, whose 18-year-old daughter Wan Rabiatul Adawiyah is participating in the programme, described PLKN as a valuable opportunity despite it being her first experience living away from home.
“PLKN is an excellent platform, especially in educating young people about safeguarding national security and instilling the spirit of volunteerism,” he said.
Auni Alisya Safwana Safaruddin, 18, from Sandakan, Sabah, who enrolled voluntarily, is looking forward to taking part in the programme’s activities despite feeling nervous about being so far from home for the first time.
“This is my first time travelling this far from home. I’m a little nervous, but I hope to learn about new cultures and experience the military lifestyle,” she said.
Esther Hiew Ru Xuan from Semenyih, Selangor, hopes the programme will help build her character before she pursues higher education.
“I hope the programme will help me become more disciplined and mentally resilient,” said the 18-year-old.
Meanwhile, 77 people undergoing PLKN 3.0 training have been given leave to cast their votes in the Johor and Negri Sembilan state elections.
Its director-general, Mejar-Jen Datuk Marzuki Mokhtar, said that of the total, 31 trainees voting in the Johor state election yesterday were allowed to report to camp today.
He said 46 trainees who will be voting in the Negri Sembilan election on Aug 1 will be given two to three days off.
