Johor polls: Madani govt's record shows it can govern with stability, says Anwar

JOHOR BARU: The Madani government’s record over the past three-and-a-half years has shown that the coalition can govern as a united administration that respects all races while pursuing development for the benefit of every Malaysian, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He said the unity government had proven that cooperation among parties of different backgrounds was essential to ensuring political stability, economic growth and inclusive development.

“We work as a team. We work to uplift and develop all the people and our country. If we want this country to progress, we must learn to respect everyone,” he said.

Anwar said this during the grand finale of Pakatan Harapan ceramah held at Masai here on Friday (July 10) night on the eve of Johor election.

He added that his administration respected every community in the country where claims made against the government were baseless and were intended to sow racial division for political gain.

“We are proud to be Malays, to uphold Islam, strengthen the Malay language and help poor Malays and rural communities.

“But if there are poor Indians, we must help them too. If a Chinese student excels, we should give that student an opportunity. That’s how we work,” he added.

The Prime Minister reiterated his administration’s zero-tolerance policy on corruption, saying any minister found stealing public funds would face legal action regardless of their position.

“If a minister steals, we arrest them. There is no compromise. I don’t care because ministers are supposed to protect the people,” he said, while urging voters to reject leaders tainted by corruption.

Highlighting the government’s economic agenda, Anwar said Johor would continue to benefit from investments under the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ), data centres and major infrastructure projects.

Calling on Johor voters to back Pakatan Harapan candidates, Anwar said the election was about protecting the people’s future rather than benefiting any political party.

“We want to protect our people. We want to protect ourselves and our country. We want to give honour and dignity to this state and this nation.

“This is not just for Pakatan Harapan or our candidates, but for the future of Malaysia,” he added.
