Car chase in Ampang ends with suspects in both cars escaping police

KUALA LUMPUR: A police chase along Jalan Datuk Dagang ended with the suspects evading authorities after abandoning their vehicles.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Khairul Anuar Khalid said that the incident occurred on July 10, when police had previously stopped two vehicles along Bulatan Mawar.

"Both then drove off aggressively, damaging a road divider. Both also drove on the opposite side of traffic from the Batu 9 toll plaza towards the Batu 11 toll plaza.

"At around 4.18am, one of the cars was trapped within Kampung Sungai Ramal in Kajang. However, their vehicle was abandoned, and the suspect successfully evaded the police," he said in a statement on Friday.

The second vehicle had also managed to evade the police.

"Checks on the first car led to the discovery of an item resembling a pistol. It has been confirmed that the item was a toy.

"The vehicles were also found to be using fake number plates", he said.

He added that investigations are underway to track the suspects.
