Thunderstorms, heavy rain forecast in seven states until 9pm


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in seven states until 9pm on Wednesday (July 8).

In a statement, MetMalaysia said the affected areas in Peninsular Malaysia are Larut, Matang and Selama, Kuala Kangsar and Kinta in Perak; Jeli, Kuala Krai and Gua Musang in Kelantan; Kemaman in Terengganu; Lipis and Jerantut in Pahang; as well as Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Baru in Johor.

The department said similar weather conditions are also expected in Kuching and Samarahan; Kanowit in Sibu; Tatau and Sebauh in Bintulu; and Lawas in Limbang, Sarawak.

In Sabah, thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are forecast in Sipitang in the Interior division, as well as Telupid, Kinabatangan, Beluran and Sandakan in the Sandakan division. - Bernama
