Cops call on public for help to find missing boy in Ampang

AMPANG: The police are seeking public help to trace a 14-year-old boy who was reported missing after taking a pet dog for a walk.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Khairul Anuar Khalid said the boy, identified as N. Barath, was last seen leaving his home in Taman Permata at about 7pm on Sunday (July 5) to walk the dog.

"About an hour later, he had yet to return home. After efforts were made to search for him, his mother found the dog tied to a tree by the roadside near the house, but the boy was nowhere to be found," he said in a statement on Tuesday (July 7).

Barath was last seen wearing black jeans and a blue T-shirt. He is about 155cm tall, weighs 62kg, has a dark complexion and black hair, and does not wear spectacles.

His last known location was Taman Permata.

Khairul Anuar urged anyone with information on the whereabouts of Barath to contact the Ampang Jaya district police headquarters control centre at 03-4289 7222 or investigating officer Sjn Mohd Saiful Shahfuzi Mohd Radzi at 019-320 2055.

"They may also go to the nearest police station," he said.

He also advised parents and guardians to closely monitor the movements of children under their care and not allow them to go out alone. He added that they should contact the police or MERS 999 if assistance is needed.
