Johor to benefit if same coalition helms Federal and state govts, says Nga

PETALING JAYA: Johor stands to benefit further if the same coalition leads the Federal and state governments, says Nga Kor Ming.

The DAP deputy chairman said close cooperation between the two levels of government would enable development plans, infrastructure projects and public initiatives to be implemented more efficiently.

"Malaysia is on the right track under the Madani government. Johor could benefit even more when the Federal and state governments come from the same coalition, with a shared vision and strong cooperation," he said in a Facebook post on Saturday (July 4).

He said such collaboration would help accelerate economic growth, attract more investment and create better employment opportunities.

Nga, who is also Housing and Local Government Minister, said the Madani government remained committed to supporting Johor through continued investment, quality public services and people-centric policies aimed at improving quality of life.

He added that political stability, policy consistency and strong Federal-state cooperation were essential for maintaining investor confidence and ensuring the state's long-term prosperity.

Nga cited Johor's RM110bil in investment secured through the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (Mida) in 2025 as an example.

Highlighting what he described as achievements of the Madani administration, Nga said Malaysia attracted RM426.7bil in foreign direct investment in 2025, while total trade reached RM3.1 trillion despite global economic headwinds.

He also cited Malaysia's improvement in the Corruption Perceptions Index ranking from 67th to 54th, Moody's upgrade of the country's sovereign credit rating to A3, strategic partnerships with Turkmenistan worth RM52.73bil and long-term energy cooperation initiatives with Russia.
