Car chase ends in drug arrests


KUALA LUMPUR: A four-vehicle pile-up occurred during a police chase along Jalan Kuching here.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus said it took place on Friday after Wangsa Maju police detected a suspicious car in the area.

“The driver refused to stop when ordered to do so. A pursuit then ensued from Wangsa Maju to Jalan Kuching,” he said.

“At the scene, the driver is believed to have weaved between lanes before losing control of the vehicle.

“The car then crashed into three other vehicles, which had stopped due to traffic congestion,” he said, adding that no injuries were reported, although all vehicles were damaged.

The driver and a passenger, aged 40 and 42, were arrested at the scene.

Police also found suspected heroin weighing 19.63g.

The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving, and Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for trafficking in dangerous drugs.
