PUTRAJAYA: The National Day celebrations this year will be held at Dataran Putrajaya with the theme “Malaysia Madani: Kesejahteraan Dinikmati” (Malaysia Madani: Shared Prosperity).
The Malaysia Madani logo of the hand being held up, which was used during last year’s National Day celebrations, will be maintained.
Government spokesperson and Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said this was decided during the Cabinet meeting yesterday.
“The government has selected the theme ‘Shared Prosperity (Kesejahteraan Dinikmati)’ for the 2026 National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations.
“The chosen logo and theme will become the official identity of the 2026 National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations.
“It reflects the government’s vision of building a progressive, inclusive and harmonious nation, where prosperity is not enjoyed only by certain groups but by all Malaysians,” he told reporters during his post-Cabinet briefing here yesterday.
Fahmi said the celebrations this year will be held on a more moderate scale compared to previous years.
However, he also said it will be “no less festive” and “we will have fun”.
“Information about the National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations can be obtained through the official Merdeka360 portal.”
On another matter, Fahmi said issues pertaining to foreign workers in the food and beverage sector would now be resolved via a Cabinet committee chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, which will most likely be held next week.
The Cabinet was also presented with the report of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s recent visit to Russia and Turkmenistan.
“For the next 20 years, the people of Malaysia will also be able to enjoy the returns and benefits generated from PETRONAS’s efforts.
“At the same time, as we have seen from these two developments – energy security and the opportunity to manage, operate and develop one of the world’s largest gas fields – the Prime Minister also announced a reduction in diesel prices on June 21.
“These three developments are expected, God willing, to have a positive impact on the people’s economy,” said Fahmi.
He also said MPs – both government and Opposition – should support the constitutional amendment separating the roles of Attorney General and Public Prosecutor to uphold democracy over politics.
This refers to the proposed constitutional amendments regarding the separation of powers, which were presented and tabled in the Dewan Rakyat on Monday.
The Bill needs a two-thirds majority in the Dewan Rakyat to be enacted into law.
