Wawasan will sit out Johor polls, contest in Negri, says Hamzah

PETALING JAYA: Parti Cinta Malaysia, now rebranded as Parti Wawasan Negara, will sit out the Johor state election on July 11 but will contest in Negri Sembilan, says its newly appointed president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.

The Larut MP said the party had decided not to field candidates in Johor, but stressed that the move should not be interpreted as a lack of support for any political bloc.

“For now, we have decided not to contest the Johor election. Not contesting does not mean we are not supporting,” he was quoted as saying by Sinar Harian on Wednesday (June 25).

“We will contest Negri Sembilan. I want to make it clear here that it is confirmed,” he added.

The Election Commission has set the nomination day for the Johor state election on June 27, while polling day is on July 11, after the state legislative assembly was dissolved on June 1.
