Man jailed five months for house trespassing


MELAKA: A 25-year-old unemployed man was sentenced to five months’ jail by the Magistrate’s Court in Ayer Keroh here after pleading guilty to trespassing into a house occupied by a woman.

Magistrate Uthman Abd Ghani meted out the sentence on Muham­mad Fikrie Roslan after he admitted to the charge yesterday.

The accused unlawfully entered a house occupied by a 23-year-old woman at Batu 10, Pantai Kundor in Tanjung Kling here at about 4pm on May 30.

The offence, framed under Section 448 of the Penal Code, carries a maximum jail term of three years, a fine of up to RM5,000, or both, upon conviction.

Based on the facts of the case, the victim was alone at home when she heard knocking on her bedroom door but was too frightened to leave the room as the rest of her family had gone to work.

At the same time, her boyfriend, who had arrived to deliver food, found the front door open before spotting the accused inside the living room of the house.
