The police are conducting further investigations into several viral videos on social media depicting brawls at the Kadazan Dusun Cultural Association (KDCA) in Penampang during the recent Kaamatan Festival celebrations.

Penampang Deputy OCPD Deputy Supt Erwansyah Abdul Basir said preliminary investigations found the incidents were believed to have stemmed from misunderstandings between several individuals.

He said the brawls did not involve any weapons and were broken up by bystanders at the scene.

"So far, statements have been taken from several individuals to assist with the investigation," said DSP Erwansyah in a statement on Wednesday (June 3).

He advised the public not to speculate or spread unverified information about the incidents as it could affect investigations and disrupt public order.

Police also urged anyone with information about the incidents to channel it to the nearest police station.
