Star Education Fair 2026 spotlights TVET, global pathways and more

GEORGE TOWN: The search for higher education options is made easier at the annual Star Education Fair 2026, with 96 exhibitors across 107 booths.

The two-day fair, organised by Star Media Group, has talks, one-on-one sessions and offers from education providers.

This year’s fair, held at Setia SPICE Convention Centre, includes seven Cluster Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes at 56 booths by nine ministries.

They cover semiconductors, electrical and electronics, automation, mechatronics, advanced manufacturing, automotive, electric vehicle and commercial vehicle technology, digital technology, cyber and creative industries, construction, building and energy systems, agrotechnology, food industries, services, hospitality and business management.

At Inti International College Penang’s booth, admissions and counselling assistant vice-­president Patrick Ooi said the ­college has a full range of programmes.

“We continue to launch new programmes that are in demand. Our latest ones include a Master of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics and Mechanical Engineering.

“Students can finish the whole programme without going overseas. We incorporated many industry-driven features,” he said.

Ooi said Inti offers scholarships of up to 100% fee coverage, with bursary aid for those in need.

He added that the fair is a good platform for students to gather details without visiting multiple institutions.

Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia’s Islamic, general and language studies centre deputy director Mohammad Khairuddin Majidillah said UPTM offers courses from foundation to diploma, bachelor’s, master’s and PhD levels.

“We have 32 programmes, with our main draws being the Bachelor of Education in Teaching English as a Second Language and Bachelor of Early Childhood Education.

“We offer three intakes a year in March, July and October,” he said.

At the Multimedia University booth, student recruitment assistant manager Nur Athirah Ahmad Raslan said MMU has six domains, namely Creative Multimedia and Cinematic Arts, AI Engineering, IT and Computer Science, Business Management and Accounting, Strategic Communication and Law.

“We offer foundation, diploma, degree and postgraduate programmes.

“For our Creative Multimedia and Cinematic Arts diploma, we have four specialisations, namely modelling and animation, creative multimedia, audio and cinematography,” she said.

Nur Athirah said MMU offers free foundation programmes for SPM school-leavers with 8As and above.

At the MCKL College Penang booth, academic head Dr Vivien Ting said the institution offered Cambridge A-Levels, with Spanish and German pathways, and the Western Australian Certificate of Education programme with a Spanish pathway.

“We offer diploma studies in computing, early childhood education and digital business.

“We have a principal scholarship where students can use their trial examination results to apply for up to 100% fee coverage if they obtain 8As and above.

“We offer a merit scholarship with up to 100% for students who obtain 9A+ and above.

“With us, students study locally while preparing to go global, as our courses are internationally recognised.

“We have partner universities in over 50 countries,” she added.

The Star Education Fair 2026 is open from 11am to 6pm today. Admission is free.
