13 arrested over two separate killings in Johor


ISKANDAR PUTERI: Police have arrested 13 suspects in connection with two separate murder cases in Johor Baru and Pontian recently. 

Acting Johor police chief Deputy Comm Hoo Chuan Huat said seven foreign men aged between 17 and 45 were detained on May 19 to assist investigations into the murder of a technician who was found with stab wounds at an apartment in Johor Baru on May 13.

He said the suspects were arrested in Masai and Mersing following intelligence gathering and follow-up investigations after police recovered the victim’s car in the Masai area.

Earlier reports stated that the technician was believed to have been stabbed multiple times inside an apartment unit at Prima Tebrau.

The victim’s body was discovered at about 10.50pm in a pool of blood, with a knife found beside him.

In a separate case, DCP Hoo said police arrested six local men to assist investigations into the murder of a 22-year-old man who was found dead outside a food outlet at Pekan Nanas in Pontian, on Thursday.

Investigations into the motive and cause of death in this second case are currently underway.
