> After decades spent navigating life-and-death situations in the operating theatre, former cardiac anaesthesiologist Dr Saedah Ali has traded hospital scrubs for muddy boots, finding purpose in sheep and goat farming after leaving the medical profession, reported Sinar Ahad.
Dr Saedah, 59, who began her medical career in 1992, ventured into livestock farming in June 2018, about four years before opting for early retirement in 2022.
She said her interest in farming began after noticing her late father’s 1ha plot of land had been left overgrown and neglected, prompting her to turn it into a livestock farm as a side activity.
“Although it can be exhausting, especially when I have to stay up at night because the animals are sick or giving birth, it has actually become a form of therapy for work-related stress,” she said.
Dr Saedah’s farm has also contributed to the local community through a CSR collaboration with prison authorities, helping to create employment opportunities for parolees over the past two years.
