Man hurt after crashing car into toll booth in Ampang


PETALING JAYA: A 62-year-old man was injured after the car he was driving skidded and crashed into a toll booth at the Ampang Toll Plaza along the Sungai Besi-Ulu Kelang Elevated Expressway (SUKE) on Sunday (May 17).

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department operations assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the department received an emergency call regarding the incident at 4.57pm.

“A fire engine from the Ampang Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene at 5.05pm.

“The accident involved a car that had skidded before crashing into the toll booth,” he said in a statement on Sunday.

He added that the victim had suffered internal chest injuries and was removed from the vehicle by members of the public before firefighters arrived at the location.

“The victim was later handed over to Health Ministry personnel and taken to Ampang Hospital for further treatment,” he said.

A total of seven firefighters and one fire engine were deployed for the operation.
