Power demand increases 1.4% but remains stable, says Akmal

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s electricity demand rose slightly by 1.4% last week to 20,097MW, showing that consumption remains steady despite unpredictable weather, says Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir.

“This slight increase shows that electricity consumption patterns remain controlled despite uncertain weather conditions,” he said during a live session on the economy supply crisis on Tuesday (May 12).

“These developments also show that some people are beginning to adjust their mobility and spending habits towards more cost-effective options.

“Amid uncertain global costs, even small changes like these are important in reducing household financial burdens,” he added.
