Body of drowned student found in Padas River


KOTA KINABALU: The body of a male student who went missing has been found in the Padas River near the Panggi Hydroelectric dam in Tenom.

The 19-year-old's body was discovered by workers before police were alerted at around 8.54am on Tuesday (May 12), said Tenom acting OCPD Asst Supt Ahmad Razali Shaari.

"The body was retrieved and taken to the Tenom Hospital for further action," he said.

ASP Ahmad said the teenager was reported missing from his school hostel on Sunday (May 11).

He said the victim was wearing a school T-shirt and they contacted the school for identification purposes.

The case is being investigated for sudden death as no signs of foul play have been detected.

He added that a post-mortem examination would be done at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
