New leadership tapped for key ministries


PUTRAJAYA: Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar has announced six new appointments and placements involving top management positions in the civil service.The changes, effective Monday, involve the appointment of two ministry secretaries-general and four deputy secretaries-general, according to a statement posted on Shamsul Azri’s official Facebook page yesterday.

Under the reshuffle, Education Ministry secretary-general Datuk Dr Aminuddin Hassim has been appointed secretary-general of the Higher Education Ministry.

Aminuddin’s post will be assumed by Education Ministry deputy secretary-general (Plan­ning and Development) Datuk Wan Hashim Wan Rahim.

Also involved in the reshuffle are Datuk Dr Megat Sany Megat Ahmad Supian, who was appointed deputy secretary-general (Planning and Development) of the Education Ministry, and Datuk Bahria Mohd Tamil, who was appointed deputy secretary-general (Strategic Communications and Creative Industry) at the Communications Ministry.

In addition, AR Jaya Singam has been appointed deputy secretary-general (Investment and Management) at the Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry, while Ahmad Rizal Adnan was named deputy secretary-general (Policy) at the Higher Education Ministry, Bernama reported.

Shamsul Azri said the appointments and placements are part of a strategic move to drive the Public Service Reform Agenda (Arpa).

He said the move reflects the government’s commitment to building a performance-driven and high-integrity organisation capable of advancing public sector reforms towards more efficient and effective service delivery.
