Any developments in Negri issue will be announced in due course, says PM

KUALA LUMPUR: Any developments on the Negri Sembilan political situation will be announced in due course, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

"The issue of Negri Sembilan, we will announce the matter later," he told reporters after the launch of the Huawei AI Lab and Innovation Centre on Monday (April 27).

Earlier, Negri Sembilan Barisan Nasional withdrew its support for the state government led by Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.

State Umno chief Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias said all 14 Umno assemblymen in the state had lost confidence in Aminuddin's leadership over the handling of the state royal crisis.

Jalaluddin said Barisan was saddened by the royal crisis in the state.

Barisan has 14 seats in the state assembly, while Pakatan Harapan has 17 and Perikatan Nasional five.

Aminuddin said he will continue his duties as Mentri Besilan Mentri Besar for now.

"I have conveyed the latest development related to the support of assemblymen for the state government to the Yang di-Pertuan Besar.

"After reasonable consideration, His Royal Highness has advised me and decreed that I continue my responsibilities as Mentri Besar until there is further clarity on this issue, in line with the law of the state," he told a press conference on Monday.

He said the state government will continue to function as usual.
