Muar-Tangkak-Segamat bypass to be completed by February 2027

JOHOR BAHRU: The bypass project connecting three districts - Muar, Tangkak and Segamat - with an estimated cost of about RM183mil is expected to be completed in February 2027.

Johor Works, Transport, Infrastructure and Communications Committee chairman Mohamad Fazli Mohamad Salleh (pic) said the project is slightly ahead of schedule, at 72.19% completion as of March 2026.

He said upgrading works along the route, which also connects Tangkak Matriculation College to the Tangkak Industrial Area, are progressing smoothly, actively and in an orderly manner, with no major issues affecting overall progress.

"The project involves the construction of a new 8.1km road with four dual carriageway lanes, six signalised intersections and four bridges, including one crossing the North-South Expressway (PLUS).

"It will also be equipped with supporting facilities such as a drainage system, street lighting and utility relocation works," he said in a Facebook post on Wednesday (April 22).

He added that key works, including bridge construction, earthworks and road paving, are currently being carried out simultaneously. – Bernama
