Runner Muhammad Saffwan Muhammad Lotpy stood by the RM750,000 asking price for his Aveta DY 115 motorcycle carrying the rare “PM 2” registration number, Harian Metro reported.
The 37-year-old said the extraordinary value is in the highly coveted plate number, saying it is considered one of the rarest and most desirable combinations in the market.
“The market price for that number is RM700,000 and above because of the number two, one of the most sought-after digits.
“If it was ‘PM 1’, the price could exceed RM1mil,” he was quoted as saying.
Muhammad Saffwan, who is from Batu Caves, Selangor, said enthusiasts often place sentimental value and prestige on rare registration numbers, making them highly sought after despite a vehicle’s actual market price.
The original market price for the retro model motorcycle is RM3,988 for the Standard version and RM4,088 for the Special Edition, which features a 113.3cc four-stroke engine and 4.2-litre fuel tank.
