Felcra denies links to chemical waste barrels dumped in Jempol

KUALA LUMPUR: Felcra Berhad has denied any links to the 26 chemical waste-filled drums found near the Ayer Hitam Felcra Plantation in Negeri Sembilan.

Felcra said that the oil palm plantation where the barrels were found was private land and not under its supervision.

"(The drums) were discovered during a routine patrol on April 14, and a police report was immediately made.

"Felcra will cooperate fully with the authorities, including the Environment Department,” it said in a statement on Friday (April 17).

It also urged all parties to refrain from speculation until the investigation is completed.

The 26 drums were found discarded in an abandoned plot on an oil palm plantation in Jempol. Preliminary findings revealed that they contained paint sludge and coolant. – Bernama
