Building cyber resilience to beat multiple threats

PETALING JAYA: As organisations accelerate their digital transformation, the complexity and frequency of cyber threats continue to rise – often beginning with something as simple as a single click.

In today’s environment, the challenge is no longer just preventing attacks, but responding swiftly and effectively when they occur.

To address this, an upcoming HRD Corp-claimable workshop titled “Building Operational Cyber Resilience: From SOC to Cloud Security” will equip business and technology leaders with practical strategies to strengthen their cyber defences and operational readiness.

Led by Ts Dr Johari Jalaludin, Head of Cybersecurity/CISO at a national critical infrastructure organisation in Malaysia, the workshop draws on nearly two decades of experience across sectors including financial services, oil & gas, and transportation.

Participants will gain hands-on insights into aligning cybersecurity operations with Malaysia’s regulatory landscape, including Act 854 compliance and the critical 6-hour incident reporting requirement.

“Cyber resilience today is not just about having the right tools, but about how quickly and effectively organisations can detect, respond, and recover from incidents,” says Dr Johari.

“Operational readiness, especially across SOC (Security Operations Centre), cloud, and business functions, is what ultimately determines impact.”

The full-day programme will also explore Zero Trust implementation in hybrid and multi-cloud environments, the use of key performance metrics such as MTTD and MTTC, and strategies to identify and protect critical ‘crown jewel’ assets.

Through real-world case studies and practical frameworks, attendees will learn how to bridge operational gaps and enhance coordination across teams.

“Many organisations still operate in silos when it comes to cybersecurity,” he added. “This workshop is designed to bring those pieces together – from technical teams to leadership, so that security becomes a coordinated, measurable business capability.”

With cyber threats becoming more sophisticated and regulatory expectations tightening, this workshop offers a timely opportunity for organisations to strengthen resilience before incidents escalate into costly disruptions.

This workshop is fully HRD Corp‑claimable, with standard registration at RM1,600. Don’t miss this opportunity to strengthen your organisation’s cyber resilience with practical, real-world strategies.
