Cops nab two adults, 13 students following fight at high school in Skudai


ISKANDAR PUTERI: Two adults and 13 school children have been arrested for fighting at a secondary school here.

Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm M. Kumarasan said the incident took place in front of the school in Bandar Selesa Jaya, Skudai at around 12.45pm on Friday (April 10).

“It started when one of the suspects got upset after getting slapped by another at school.

“The incident escalated to a huge fight after the school session,” he said in a statement on Saturday (April 11).

ACP Kumarasan said the arrest led to the arrest of 15 suspects, where 13 are schoolboys and two women, aged 12 to 37.

They were picked up by the police in the Nusa Bestari and Iskandar Puteri areas between 3pm and 11.11pm on the same day.

“The adults have been placed under a three-day remand until Monday (April 13), while the boys will be remanded until Tuesday (April 14) to assist in the investigation,” he said.

The case is investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting, which is punishable with up to two years’ imprisonment, a fine or both, and also Section 323 of the same Code for voluntarily causing hurt, punishable with up to a year’s imprisonment and a maximum fine of RM2,000, or both upon conviction.
