Seremban court sentences man to seven days, RM8,000 fine for dangerous driving

KUALA LUMPUR: A man has been jailed seven days and fined RM8,000 by the magistrate's court in Seremban after pleading guilty to a dangerous driving charge.

Magistrate Nurul Azuin Mohd Talha also ordered Iskandar Abd Aris, 21, to be barred from holding a driver's licence for five years.

The accused, whose car had collided with another vehicle, was charged with dangerous driving along Persiaran Senawang 1.

He was charged with committing the offence around 2am on July 6, 2025.

Iskandar was charged under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act which carries a jail term of up to five years, a fine between RM5,000 and RM15,000, and disqualification from driving for at least five years.

Earlier, Social Welfare Department officer Mohammad Zakwan Nasohah when tabling a social report on the case proposed that being a young offender, the accused be made to undergo 240 hours of community service within 24 months.

However, DPP Noor Hafiza Ishak said Iskandar was already old enough to know the repercussions of his actions.

It was earlier reported that a car driven by the accused had overturned before crashing into another. A passenger in the other car had suffered serious injuries due to the collision while Iskandar only sustained light injuries.
