Security guard claims trial to raping 14-year-old girl

SEREMBAN: A 25-year-old security guard claimed trial in the Sessions Court here to a charge of raping a 14-year-old girl.

Muhammad Syafiq Thajudin pleaded not guilty after the charge was read to him before judge Surita Budin.

The accused was charged with raping the victim in a flat in Seremban around 12.30pm on February 12.

Muhammad Syafiq was charged under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code for rape.

The charge carries a jail term of between 10 and 20 years and whipping.

Deputy public prosecutor Nurul Balkis Zunaidi asked the court for a mention date and offered the accused bail of RM15,000 with one surety.

She also told the court the victim was the accused's girlfriend.

The accused, who was unrepresented, pleaded for a lower bail.

He told the court he has only been working for two months and his father, who is a retiree, was present to bail him.
