I-Bhd strengthens institutional presence at i-City with participation from alrajhi bank Malaysia

i-City Finance Avenue is beginning to form a concentrated financial cluster, strengthening its emergence as a next-generation financial and commercial hub within Selangor.

KUALA LUMPUR: I-Bhd, the master developer of i-City, Malaysia’s No.1 Digital City and an AI-enabled integrated urban ecosystem, today announced that it has entered into a Sale and Purchase Agreement with Al Rajhi Banking and Investment Corporation (Malaysia) Bhd for a commercial property, marking the participation of one of the world’s leading Islamic banking groups within i-City.

The transaction reflects continued interest from established international institutions in i-City’s growing ecosystem, which integrates residential, commercial, hospitality and digital infrastructure within a single development.

The transaction involves the acquisition of a commercial asset within i-City, strategically located opposite the group’s AI Living development and next to Central i-City Mall.

This investment reflects investors’ confidence in i-City’s forward-looking direction, particularly its focus on AI driven urban living and the integration of emerging technologies such as robotics into the built environment.

The proximity to the AI Living development underscores the increasing convergence between real estate and advanced technologies within i-City’s evolving ecosystem.

As i-City continues to evolve beyond a traditional property development, the participation of global institutions plays an important role in strengthening the depth and diversity of its ecosystem.

The presence of financial institutions such as Maybank and Prudential reinforces i-City’s role as a trusted commercial and financial node, supporting both businesses and residents within the development.

i-City Finance Avenue is beginning to form a concentrated financial cluster, strengthening its emergence as a next-generation financial and commercial hub within Selangor. This clustering effect enhances the overall ecosystem by bringing together banking, financial services and digital infrastructure within a single integrated environment.

This latest participation by a leading international financial institution further reinforces i-City’s growing attractiveness to institutional and global investors.

At the same time, i-City’s integrated data centre and digital infrastructure provide the foundational layer required for AI-enabled services, supporting the township’s transition towards a more technology-driven urban environment.

I-Bhd chairman Tan Sri Lim Kim Hong said, “This development reflects continued institutional confidence in i-City’s long-term vision as an AI-enabled urban platform.

“The participation of global financial institutions adds an important institutional dimension to our ecosystem, complementing the broader mix of residential, commercial and digital infrastructure within the development.”

He added: “Our focus on AI Living and next-generation urban solutions is beginning to attract like-minded global players who see value in how cities will evolve in the future.

“Together, the presence of global financial institutions and integrated digital infrastructure positions

i-City not just as a place to operate, but as a platform where economic activity and technology converge.”

The participation of international financial institutions is also expected to enhance i-City’s positioning as an emerging destination for international participation, in line with Malaysia’s broader aspirations to strengthen its role in the digital economy.

Within i-City, this participation complements the presence of other established international and regional players such as Central Pattana PLC, DoubleTree by Hilton and Wyndham, contributing to the development’s evolution into a more globally connected urban environment.

The transaction underscores I-Bhd’s ongoing strategy to develop i-City as an integrated ecosystem where key components of urban life are brought together within a single environment.

Rather than operating as a standalone property project, i-City continues to evolve as a platform that integrates living, working and complementary services in a connected and adaptive setting, supporting long-term value creation.
