Hutan Melintang: Body of drowned fisherman found


IPOH: The body of a fisherman who drowned after falling off his boat while trying to check on his propeller at Lot 125B (Pelantar 10) Hutan Melintang, near Bagan Datuk on Tuesday (March 31), has been found.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (Operations) Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the body of Pee Kian Kok, 55, was found about 10m from the scene after the search and rescue team resumed the operations on Wednesday (April 1) morning using the surface searching method.

"The body was found at 8.07am and has been handed over to the police for further action,” he said in a statement.

The fisherman was reported missing at 4.26pm on Tuesday.

The Bagan Datuk district Civil Defence Force operations control centre said a team was mobilised to the scene for observation, but no search was conducted due to weather factors.

Operations were suspended at 7.30pm and resumed at 8am on Wednesday. — Bernama
