Car plunges into Ipoh lake, driver escapes unhurt


IPOH: A man escaped unhurt after the car he was driving skidded and plunged into a lake at Taman Dr Seenivasagam here early Tuesday (March 24) morning.

Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Muhammad Najib Hamzah said the incident occurred at about 12.30am when the driver, was travelling in rainy conditions and heading home.

He said upon reaching the location, he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and enter the lake.

“The driver did not sustain any injuries, although the vehicle was damaged.

“Initial investigations revealed that the car’s road tax had expired and it was not covered by valid insurance.

“A summons has been issued, and the case remains under investigation,” he said in a statement today.

He said the case is being handled by the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division of the Ipoh District Police Headquarters.

“Motorists are urged to drive cautiously, wear seat belts, and adhere to traffic regulations at all times to ensure safety.

“Members of the public who witnessed the incident are urged to contact the investigating officer at 05-2451537 or visit the nearest police station to assist in the investigation,” he added.
