Gagasan Rakyat Sabah strengthens info bureaus ahead of GE16

KOTA KINABALU: The ruling Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan) is strengthening its information bureaus in all constituencies in preparation for the 16th General Election.

Gagasan information chief Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar said the party’s information wings were being strengthened to ensure that the party’s communication with the grassroots were more organised, effective, and comprehensive.

Nizam said the role of the information bureau is becoming increasingly critical in facing the challenges of the current political landscape, which is filled with various perceptions, inaccurate information, and propaganda attacks from the opposition.

He said the information machinery at all levels must improve its preparedness, which involves strengthening its organisational structure, developing clear key messages, making better use of digital media, and communicating more effectively with the public.

“The Information Bureau is not just about delivering information, but it is the party’s main defence in upholding policies, clarifying issues, and countering slander,” said Nizam.

He also said that unity and discipline among party members should be aligned with the leadership’s stance and direction.
