Fire razes three semi-permanent homes in JB


JOHOR BARU: Three semi-permanent houses were destroyed in a fire at Kampung Plentong Baru near Masai here.

Johor Jaya fire station operations commander Saiful Bahari Mahpop said the department received an emergency call about the incident at 11.41am on Tuesday (March 17).

“A team from the Johor Jaya fire station arrived at the scene at 11.46am, about 3km from the station, and confirmed that three semi-permanent houses measuring approximately 60 by 100 feet were on fire.

“Firefighting operations were carried out using two hose lines with two nozzles from the Johor Jaya Fire and Rescue station, one hose line with one nozzle from the Pasir Gudang station, as well as an auxiliary line from the Mount Austin volunteer fire brigade,” he said.

He added that the fire also caused heat damage to a Proton Wira and a skylift parked nearby but

no casualties were reported in the incident.

Saiful Bahari said a total of 24 firemen, along with three Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) vehicles, one Compact Fire Rescue Tender (CFRT) and one Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit, were deployed to the scene.

He added the cause of the fire and the extent of losses are still under investigation.
