Johor technician pleads guilty to child sex offences


JOHOR BARU: A technician has changed his plea to guilty in two separate Sessions Courts here to seven charges of sexual assault and producing sexual abuse material involving three children aged between five and seven, for offences committed two years ago.

Muhammad Imran Abdullah, 29, changed his plea before Judges Nor Aziati Jaafar and Madihah Zainol here on Wednesday (March 4). The judges then fixed March 13 for the hearing of the case facts and for sentencing.

The accused is alleged to have committed all the offences in a bedroom and outside a house in Kampung Pasir Putih, Pasir Gudang, between 10.30am and 11am on April 5, 2024.

The prosecution was led by Deputy Public Prosecutors Nor Fadilah Johanuddin and Nur Farah Wahida Shahudin, while the accused was represented by lawyers Mohamed Imran Mohamed Sam and Amar Ajwad Kalki Muhammad Azali Kalki.

Previously, on Feb 27, the accused also changed his plea to guilty in the same court on three counts of trafficking three newborn babies aged five and seven days, for offences allegedly committed two years ago.

He was charged under Section 14 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants (ATIPSOM) Act 2007, read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code, which carries a life sentence or a minimum of five years' imprisonment and caning, upon conviction.

The court also fixed the same date for the hearing of the facts of the case and sentencing.

It was previously reported that Muhammad Imran, who was charged in the same court on Dec 19 last year, had pleaded not guilty to seven charges, including sexually assaulting three girls aged five to seven.

On Jan 16, the accused had also pleaded not guilty in the same court to three charges of trafficking three newborn babies.
