KUALA LUMPUR: His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, is currently unwell due to musculoskeletal pain (involving muscles and bones) affecting his back and hips.

In a statement yesterday, Istana Negara said His Majesty was advised by medical experts to rest and refrain from attending official engagements to allow for proper treatment and recovery.

“Due to His Majesty undergoing follow-up treatment, he is unable to attend the breaking of fast ceremony with the Prime Minister, Cabinet members, Heads of Foreign Delegations and senior government officials at Istana Negara on Thursday,” the statement said, Bernama reported.

Istana Negara also announced that the opening ceremony of the Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) Sultan Ibrahim Mosque,  which was scheduled for Thursday, has been postponed to a later date.

The King expressed his intention to resume official duties as soon as his health improves.

Following the announcement, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim extended his prayers and well-wishes to Sultan Ibrahim.

“Praying that His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim is granted enduring health and remains under Allah SWT’s protection, mer- cy and care,” he posted on Facebook.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi also offered prayers for His Majesty to be granted long-lasting good health and for all treatment matters to be eased.

Ahmad Zahid also prayed that His Majesty would recover quickly and be blessed by Allah SWT.

“May His Majesty always be under the protection, mercy and guidance of Allah SWT in continuing to reign over the nation and its people. Daulat Tuanku,” he posted on X yesterday.

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil urged all Malaysians to join in prayer for the health of Sultan Ibrahim.

“I invite all of us to pray together for the health and well-being of His Majesty,” he said during a weekly press conference here yesterday.
