Viral poster depicting 'new’ MyKad, passport is fake, warns Immigration Dept

KUALA LUMPUR: A viral poster titled “New: Malaysia Passport & MyKad 2026” circulating on social media, which allegedly links to the Immigration Department’s official website, is fake.

The department clarified that it did not issue the poster and that the information contained in it was neither authentic nor representative of any official announcement.

“The content and details presented in the poster are not valid and do not reflect any policy or announcement made by the department,” it said in a statement on Wednesday (Feb 25).

It also urged the public not to share unverified information and to rely only on official department channels for accurate and legitimate updates regarding Malaysian passports or any policy announcements.

"Members of the public are advised to remain vigilant and verify the authenticity of information before disseminating it online to avoid confusion and the spread of misinformation," it added.

Previously, on Jan 13, the Home Ministry dismissed similar images purportedly of the new passport and MyKad designs, emphasising that they were not official releases.
