Prasarana told to explain LRT Kelana Jaya disruption, says Loke

PETALING JAYA: Prasarana Malaysia Bhd (Prasarana) must explain the severe disruption involving the LRT Kelana Jaya line recently, says Anthony Loke.

The Transport Minister said he instructed the Prasarana chief executive officer to explain at the Cabinet meeting, along with an immediate recovery action plan.

“I take seriously the several incidents of disruption involving the Kelana Jaya LRT service at the beginning of Ramadan.

“The public has the right to demand more efficient and reliable service quality,” he said in a post on Facebook on Tuesday (Feb 24).

Loke also instructed the Land Public Transport Agency (Apad) to investigate the disruptions as reported on Monday.

He said Apad has the authority to take action against Prasarana if it is proven that there were unreasonable operational weaknesses.

On Monday (Feb 23), the LRT Kelana Jaya Line was disrupted during morning's peak hours after several train units were taken out of service due to technical issues.

Rapid KL said in a Facebook post that the disruption led to longer-than-usual wait times on the platforms.

Commuters also reportedly took to social media to express their frustration as the disruptions began on the first working day after the long Chinese New Year festivities and the start of the fasting month.
