MELAKA: Two people were found dead inside vehicles in separate incidents in Melaka and Penang, prompting police and emergency response investigations.
In Melaka, the body of a 50-year-old man was discovered inside a car parked by the roadside along Jalan Ong Kim Wee in Gajah Berang on Sunday (Feb 22).
Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Christopher Patit said police received a report about the man being unconscious inside the vehicle at 3.10pm.
"A team from the Tengkera police station, together with investigating officers and forensic personnel, was dispatched to the scene to carry out further investigations.
"A medical officer from the Tengkera Health Clinic, who was also present, confirmed that the man had died," he said in a statement Monday (Feb 23).
The body was taken to the Melaka Hospital for a post-mortem.
In Penang, the body of a 37-year-old woman was found inside a car parked at a petrol station along Jalan Paya Terubong, George Town, on Sunday night.
Penang Fire and Rescue Department director Mohamad Shoki Hamzah said the department received an emergency call at 7.48pm requesting assistance to unlock a car door, with a woman reportedly inside.
"After the door was opened, a woman was found unconscious in the driver's seat. A medical team confirmed that she had died," he said when contacted Monday.
The victim, identified as Khor Bee Jiun, 37, was taken to Penang Hospital for a post-mortem. - Bernama
