CNY a time for reflection, harmony and mutual respect, says Lam Thye

KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran social activist Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye has called on Malaysians to embrace the spirit of unity, harmony and mutual respect as they usher in the Chinese New Year (CNY).

In his CNY message on Monday (Feb 16), Lee extended warm wishes to all Malaysians celebrating the festive occasion, expressing hope that the Year of the Horse would bring renewed hope, prosperity, good health and success.

"Chinese New Year is more than a festive season – it is a time for reflection, gratitude, reconciliation, and strengthening family and community bonds," he said.

He noted that the celebration serves as a reminder of the values that underpin Malaysia’s multiracial and multicultural society, including unity, harmony, respect and compassion.

Lee urged Malaysians to welcome the New Year with a spirit of togetherness and goodwill, setting aside differences and working collectively towards building a safer, more caring and inclusive society.

"In challenging times, it is our shared humanity, mutual respect and collective responsibility that will guide us forward," he said.

He also expressed hope that the festive season would be filled with joy, peace and meaningful moments spent with loved ones.
