Cops probing murder of teenager in Lundu

KUCHING: A teenager is believed to have been murdered in an incident in a rented house in Lundu on Thursday (Feb 12) morning.

Lundu OCPD Supt Sudirman Kram said police were informed of the incident at 7.12am by a medical officer at the Sarawak General Hospital.

"The victim, 18, was sent there unconscious and without a pulse. He was later pronounced dead.

"Preliminary examination found swelling on the victim's eye and left cheek, as well as dried blood around his nose," he said in a statement.

Preliminary investigations found that the victim and several colleagues are believed to have attended a social gathering and consumed alcohol.

He added that an argument reportedly broke out between the victim and a suspect, a co-worker and housemate, and escalated into a physical fight.

"The victim reportedly lost consciousness and was taken to the hospital by the suspect," he said.

Supt Sudirman said police have arrested three men aged 29 to 33, who are also the victim's co-workers, to assist in the investigation.

They also seized a vehicle and several mobile phones.

Supt Sudirman said police are tracking down a fourth suspect who is believed to have fled after sending the victim to hospital.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. – Bernama
