SHAH ALAM: A series of raids led to the dismantling of three separate scam operations that were targeting overseas victims.
Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Shazeli Kahar said that raids were conducted in Bandar Sungai Long, Seri Kembagan and in Puchong.
The three operations conducted between Jan 23 and 28 led to the arrest of 20 suspects, including one local.
Two of the three busted syndicates were found to be offering bogus part-time jobs to victims, while the third operated an investment share scam.
“Investigations into the first group showed that it had been in operation since Dec 25 and was targeting Australian and Italian victims.
"The suspects were acting as operators to find and convince victims to take up the supposed part-time jobs via social media and online sites.
“The second was found to be targeting Chinese victims overseas and has been in operation since Nov 2025.
“The third group was also found to be active since Dec 2025 and was targeting Pakistani victims by promoting their so-called jobs via TikTok,” he said during a press conference at the police contingent headquarters here
He added that all foreign suspects had entered the country with social visit passes and job visas.
“Investigations are still ongoing as it is a bit difficult to ascertain the scope since they were targeting victims overseas,” he said.
