Lizan Che Mat appointed new MBKT mayor


KUALA TERENGGANU: Dungun district officer and land administrator Lizan Che Mat has been appointed the new Kuala Terengganu City Council (MBKT) mayor effective Sunday (Feb 1).

In a statement, MBKT said Lizan replaces Datuk Jusman Ibrahim, who has been appointed as Deputy State Secretary (Management).

The statement added that a meeting between the mayor, the council secretary and department directors was held on Sunday morning.

Lizan also inspected the guard of honour before reporting for duty at his office to officially commence his duties.

"On behalf of all MBKT staff, we extend our congratulations and wish him success in carrying out his responsibilities as mayor," the statement said. - Bernama
