(Unofficial) BN set to retain both Kinabatangan, Lamag seats with super majorities


KINABATANGAN: Barisan Nasional looks set to retain both the Lamag and Kinabatangan seats with super majorities, according to unofficial vote tallies.

Based on the latest unofficial vote counts, Mohd Naim Kurniawan Moktar secured more than 17,000 votes while his opponent Warisan’s Datuk Saddi Abdu Rahman, who garnered over 5,300 votes in the three-cornered contest for the Kinabatangan parliamentary seat.

Independent candidate Goldam Hamid only managed to secure less than a thousand votes.

In the Lamag state constituency, Mohd Ismail Ayob @ Miha is thumping his way to a more than 4,000 vote majority against his sole opponent, Warisan’s Mazliwati Abdul Malek.

She has only managed to secure some 1,000 plus votes so far with a few more boxes to be counted.

The Election Commission is only expected to annouce the official results after 10pm.

The by-elections were held following the death of the incumbent Member of Parliament and assemblyman, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, 66, on Dec 5 last year.
