Drunk man detained after provoking Border Control DG’s police escort on KL-Seremban highway

PETALING JAYA: A 41-year-old man was detained after he allegedly attempted to provoke the police escorts of the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) director-general along the Kuala Lumpur-Seremban Highway on Wednesday (Jan 14).

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Asst Comm Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa confirmed that the incident was not a traffic accident and that no injuries were reported.

“According to the reports received, it has been confirmed that the incident was not a traffic accident, but instead involved the arrest of a driver under Section 45A of the Road Transport Act 1987 (driving under the influence of alcohol),” he said in a statement on Thursday (Jan 15).

He added that breath tests showed the suspect had a blood alcohol level of 107mg per 100ml, exceeding the legal limit.

The case has been referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) for further instructions, and charges are expected to be filed on Thursday (Jan 15).
